A few weeks ago we decided we wanted to head out of town to celebrate my Brother In Law’s birthday in Reno. We chose a respite in Reno due to a amazing deal at the Atlantis Casino and because we wanted to experience a snowmobile trip! California has received a ton of rain and snow so when we arrived in Truckee on Friday, we found it buried in snow. We had a quick lunch at Burger Me and walked around the adorable town. This may seem really silly but I was obsessed with watching the icicles fall off the tops of the buildings. They would crash to the ground and it was totally insane!
We headed to Reno to check in at the Atlantis and we loved our room. It was clearly newly renovated (ask for the luxury tower) and our room looked out toward the snow covered mountains. I liked that the Atlantis had several restaurants and lounges to relax that weren’t on the smoke filled casino floor. We headed to the Bistro Napa restaurant at 4:00 pm and had a good laugh that we got there right at opening and still had to wait an hour for a table! We had a great happy hour with fabulous drinks and desserts!
The next day we headed to our snowmobile adventure. I’ll go into detail on a separate post but suffice it to say, we had an amazing time getting lost in the mountains above Truckee. The weather cleared up and we had a gorgeous view. It had been so long since I felt fresh powder snow and it was amazing. Snowmobiling was unexpectedly exhausting (all that leaning) so I ended up relaxing and taking a nap while everyone headed to the range.
We ended up leaving a bit earlier than planned on Sunday to beat the next snow storm but I’m already looking forward to our next trip to the area!
