Hit the farmers market today! Bought some fruit to make homemade popsicles and some fresh flowers to brighten up the house. I housed them in my new Ikea enamel pitcher!
After hunting for some metal popsicle molds and never finding any I purchased two sets of Tovolo molds from Amazon. Yes they are plastic. Yes I’m not thrilled with this. But since I’ve pretty much purged the rest of the plastic in the kitchen, I’m ok with using these. Plus they claim to be BPA free which makes me happy.
Anyway I had a carton of strawberries which looked to be on their last leg. I also have a TON of frozen bananas so I whipped up a smoothie concoction of organic whole milk, and fresh fruit.
Froze them for a few hours.
Popped them out after running under some warm water.
And she enjoyed them.
Here are a few pictures from our successful 2nd birthday party for le bebe. I wanted a Strawberry Shortcake theme but everything I found had the weird modern version of her. I decided to make it a vintage character themed party and found a ton of stuff on Ebay and Etsy.
Last Sunday I made the trip to the fabulous Alameda Point Antique Fair at the Alameda Naval Base. There with a beautiful view of downtown San Francisco as a backdrop, the BFF and I excitedly walked the aisles looking through vintage goods. Everything I read about the fair was pretty much true. It’s chilly in the morning, blazing hot mid morning and so much to see!
My mission was to get some milk glass, aqua mason jars, pyrex and maybe some old children’s books. Since items have to be at least 20 years old I figured this was an excellent way to get some items to reuse and repurpose!
Next month I’ll make the following changes to my strategy. I’ll buy whatever I want at that specific time. We took notes went back and while the items were still there we were quoted radically different prices. Also, one antique children’s stand packed up and left before we could get back. I was so disappointed! Also the BFF snagged the last large aqua mason jar at a very popular stand, they were practically sold out of everything by the time we got back!
Bring sunscreen, a snack, water, paper and pen.
Negotiate the price and then snap the item up!
Take a camera to get ideas.
Bring a large vehicle for furniture
