12 Days of PrincesS BOOK REVIEW

Inspired by the famous song β€œThe Twelve Days of Christmas,” a new holiday tradition is here: the twelve days of princess! Countdown to Christmas with Tiana, Rapunzel, Merida, Cinderella, Belle, Aurora, Snow White, and Ariel. Each day brings a new magical gift, like two glass slippers or seven singing dwarfs, from one of your favorite Disney Princesses to help get you into the holiday spirit.

12 Days of Princess by Holly Rice is a play on the “Twelve Days of Christmas” song, substituting princesses and various items in their world as the gifts! Several of the princesses get multiple pages including Rapunzel, Cinderella and Tiana. Each day of Christmas jingle is specific to the characters, for instance Cinderella gets two glass slippers and Snow White gets seven dwarves caroling.

The illustrations by John Bajet are bright and modern, they characters remind me of the Disney tsum tsum style. Think rounded illustrations and large bold eyes. 12 Days of Princess is for children 3-5 but it’s advanced enough that older children can read on their own without being bored. Need some ideas for gifting? 12 Days of Princess could be a book for bedtime reading or to include in book advent calendar for Christmas! Children can find their favorite princesses and hunt down the small magical details like the Ariel inspired cookies or Merida’s teddy bear brother on the final pages.
