MINNIE’S RAINBOW REVIEW

Minnie’s Rainbow is a rhyming picture book in which Minnie Mouse and her friends discover how rainbows are made. I like that this book is educational with conversation-inducing words with like ‘spectrum’ and ‘appear’. I always take the opportunity to ask my daughter if she knows what certain words mean and if not I show her how to look them up on google so she can understand how to get answers if I’m not around.

Minnie’s Rainbow also comes with a Mickey-shaped piece of mylar that allows kids to create their own rainbows with just a few items like a jar and flashlight!

The vocabulary of Minnie’s Rainbow appears simple enough for preschoolers to understand, especially if read aloud by an adult. Yet the story still has enough substance for early elementary school kids up to age 7 to enjoy. The messages about sharing, working together, and the wonders of nature are universal for this age range.

Overall, the sweet story, endearing characters, playful images, and accessible language make Minnie’s Rainbow a wonderful fit for preschool to early elementary-aged children who are drawn to Disney characters and stories. Parents looking for engaging read-aloud picture books would find this a delightful option for their young Mickey Mouse fans.

Brightly colored and with a bonus piece of mylar, Minnie’s Rainbow is perfect for beginning readers.
