Tips for Visiting Disneyland During the 2021 Reopening!

Anyone else missing Disneyland out there? I missed the feeling of hope and whimsy that Disneyland Resort brings to every single one of its visitors. We got the opportunity to check out Disneyland and Disney California Adventure with all the new Covid protocols! Here are my tips for visiting Disneyland During the 2021 reopening!

I was invited by Disneyland Resort to experience the 2021 Disneyland Reopening. I received 1 day Park Hopper tickets, a dining credit and parking pass. All thoughts and opinions my own.

Parameters for Visiting Disneyland

Currently only California residents are able to visit Disneyland Resort.  All guests 2 years old and older must wear a mask when not eating.  The Parks are operating at reduced hours and currently are open from 9am to 7pm.

Note: Gaters are not allowed in the parks. Guests must wear masks that loop around the ears.

Dining Options

Using the mobile order system for food was key in our experience.  Make sure to order through the app and stagger your times.  the first day we headed to get beignets at around 5pm.  The mobile order was unavailable and we were able to get any.  Once the mobile order times are all taken that is it for food at that certain eatery. The next day around lunch I was able to secure an order through the app and pick up towards the end of the night.

I did like that Disneyland has a ton of seating and dining areas.  Benches and tables have signs noting that they are dining areas and they are throughout the entire park, not just at the places that sell food!

The kids were a bit nervous about cleanliness at the parks but I was happy to see that Disneyland Resort is taking this incredibly serious. There are hand washing stations and hand sanitizer dispensers EVERYWHERE!  I spotted hand sanitizer stations in the line queue and outside every ride.  The cast members are constantly wiping down tables and most bathrooms were very clean!

Crowd Size for the Disneyland 2021 Reopening

Since the Parks are operating at only 25% capacity, many parts of the parks felt empty.  The only times I noticed large crowds were the people converging on the shops at the Park closing.  Cars Land also felt a bit crowded mid day but even at max capacity there were plenty of other quiet places like outside Ariel’s ride and around the castle.

Character Meet and Greet Information

Character meet and greets were my favorite aspect of our visit!  You can take socially distanced photos with Captain America, Thor, T’Challa and the Dora Milage near the Hollywood Lounge.  Outside Carthay Circle we spotted Pluto, Snow White and Doopy, Anna and Elsa, Mickey and Minnie.

Near the Paradise Garden Bandstand hung out with Miguel and Stitch who had separate photo areas.

In Disneyland we saw Briar Rose, Cinderella, Alice and the Mad Hatter. Cast members are not allowed to take photos with guest phones so make sure to bring an additional person who can take photos and wait with you in line.

In New Orleans Square we saw Tiana and Redd the Pirate!

  • Make sure to ride the Disneyland train early in the day. They usually close it down around 2pm.
  • Lockers inside the Parks are unavailable but the ones on the esplanade are open for use.
  • Haunted Mansion and Snow White’s Enchanted Wish has the longest wait times at around 45 minutes due to the new features!
  • If you forget an external charger, FuelRod has two stations in Pixar Pier and Cars Land!
