Luxury Amongst the Woods: An Edgewood Lake Tahoe Review

Spread the love

Tucked away from the hustle of the Stateline area of South Lake Tahoe, the Edgewood was our choice to celebrate our anniversary.  It was a big anniversary (25 years together) so we wanted a top-notch experience in one of our favorite places in California.  Read on for a full review of Edgewood Lake Tahoe, a luxury resort in the popular tourist town.

Edgewood Lake Tahoe Review

We arrived at Edgewood the day before a big snowstorm hit.  The grounds were immaculate and handing off our car to the valet was seamless.  Upon entering the resort we were handed a glass of champagne and didn’t have to wait at all for our room assignment.

Edgewood Lake Tahoe Rooms

Our room was on the second floor and we had a view of the wooded area that surrounds the resort. The bed was comfortable and placement of the TV was perfect. Other amenities in the room included a fireplace, a small fridge, Keurig coffee maker and various coffee/tea K-cups, and 2 complimentary bottled waters.  The bottles were stainless steel which was meant for refilling.  There are stations throughout the resort so we never went without a cold drink.

The bathroom was my favorite aspect of the room.  Oversized and open with two sinks, tons of counter space, and a tub you could sink into.  The bath included a reading tray and a delicious smelling bath bomb that filled the room with the smell of apple cider.  The bathroom held separate shower, and separate toilet room. The shower had very weak pressure so I’m not sure if it was something that is typical but it’s important to note.  They even put two little stools under the sink (which is great for kids who can’t reach the sink.)

Edgewood Lake Tahoe Amenities and Perks

I can’t stress this enough…it is so important to contact the concierge before you arrive if you want to reserve any additional experiences.  Upon arriving I had put in the notes that we were celebrating an anniversary but there was no mention of it at check-in.  I’ve seen other reviews showing acknowledgments of special occasions in the room but we had none so that was a bit disappointing.  Also disappointing was the fact that none of the special winter experiences were available and this included the spa.  Everything was booked up including the nature walks to the champagne chalet and the woman at the concierge table sort of shrugged and said nothing could be done.  It’s important that you either call to see what the resort is offering or reserve ahead of time.

Still, there felt like there was just enough attention to detail to not feel like we weren’t getting a good experience.  The hot cocoa, s’mores and breakfast socials are worth it and there are plenty of places to enjoy the treats in a quiet spot.  During the winter, an ice skating rink is set up and hotel guests cost $25 per person to skate.

The resort has a heated outdoor pool but I didn’t notice any poolside service.  Guests had to come in in their robes to order drinks and food.  I spotted plenty of fire pits that go 24 hours and pathways if you want to take a leisurely stroll.

Edgewood Lake Tahoe Dining Options

There are several options at the resort.  They include The Edgewood Bistro, Brooks Bar and Grill, and The Edgewood Restaurant.  The first night we snagged a table at the Bistro and had a lovely quiet dinner.  Granted, we went early and literally had the entire restaurant to ourselves so the food and service were on point.  My favorite dishes were the lobster bisque (creamy with just a touch of heat) and the bacon-wrapped meatloaf.

On our third night we weren’t quite sure where to eat so we wandered over to the Brooks Bar and Grill and got seats at the bar.  Our dinner of pork sliders and chicken Caesar salad was good as was the service.  Note: this place gets loud so if you are looking for a quiet experience, this isn’t it.

There is a lovely little coffee bar near the check-in were we could order lattes and pastries.

Edgewood Lake Tahoe Location and Parking

Edgewood is2-3 blocks off South Lake Tahoe Blvd and it feels like a whole different world while on the property.  It’s extremely quiet and has private beach access.  The Edgewood Lake Tahoe is close enough to the casinos, restaurants, and shops of the main strip but also far enough back that it feels like a private experience.  The Edgewood only offers valet for $25 per day.  We utilized it and each day our Tesla was fully charged and warmed for a day of travel.

Are pets allowed at Edgewood Lake Tahoe?

Edgewood Tahoe does not allow pets on the property. They do make accommodations for service animals as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Is there skiing near Edgewood Lake Tahoe?

Edgewood Lake Tahoe is very close to Heavenly, which offers excellent skiing and snowboarding. If you want a really nice place to stay on a ski trip to Lake Tahoe, this is it.

Does Edgewood Lake Tahoe have a business center?

The resort has a Business room – downstairs in the lobby behind the concierge desk. I spotted two computers and a printer- it seems to be open all day.
