With all of the world practicing social distancing, it’s more difficult to find ways to celebrate your kids’ birthday. Many kids are stuck home and finding that their birthdays are just around the corner. Gone are the days of being able to have a house full of guests to celebrate your kids birthday. Social distancing has changed everyone’s entire life, but it doesn’t have to ruin your kid’s birthday. Today I’m sharing some ideas to make your kid’s birthday special even though we must practice social distancing. Now is the time to start making plans to celebrate your kids birthday during social distancing so that they can have a fabulous birthday, albeit different than years past. Here are a few ideas to celebrate a kid birthday during social distancing.
Chat with Your Kids
The first step to celebrating your kid’s birthday during social distancing is to find out what they want most. They should be aware of the social distancing rules by now, but if not explain what the rules are and ask them for some ideas on what they want for their birthday. Ask if they want a special birthday breakfast like these Mickey Cinnamon Rolls! You may be surprised about the creativity that your kids have when it comes to having a virtual birthday party.
Make a Video Compilation
Have your kid’s friends record a short 10-15 second clip saying happy birthday to your kid. You’ll take each of these video clips and compile them into one long birthday video to show to your kid on their special day.
Have Special treats delivered/dropped off
Another way to make a birthday special during quarantine is to pre order special birthday treats. A few days before Kiki’s birthday, I put in an instacart order for her favorite foods. On her birthday I was able to create a donut cake with her favorite donuts from items that were delivered via instacart ahead of time!
I’ve seen many families have other people swing by the house and drop gifts as well as food at the end of their driveway or near their porch. You’ll make plans to have everyone drop something off on a specific date, giving enough time to sanitize each item and allow it to air dry for 24 hours before bringing the food and gifts into your home for your kid’s birthday celebration at home.
One additional idea is to order treats from Goldbelly. Goldbelly offers meals kits, desserts and meal from restaurants all across the country. Order a Rainbow Cake from Carlos’ bakery or a cheesecake from Juniors in New York!
Take a Car Ride
Make plans to take a long car ride on your kid’s birthday. This won’t be any regular car ride, but rather a trip around the area to drive by your kid’s friends and extended family member’s homes. Each household can put a special birthday banner, photos, and stand at the doorstep waving singing happy birthday to your kid as you drive by each location.
Schedule a Zoom Birthday
You can do a lot with virtual meetings to celebrate your kids birthday during social distancing. Consider installing zoom and getting a virtual meeting webcam that makes it feel as if everyone’s together during your kid’s virtual birthday party. Have a cake delivered to each home as you all enjoy birthday cake, laughter, and a virtual party on your kid’s birthday.
When it comes to celebrating a kid birthday during social distancing you’ll need to take extra steps to plan something special. I’m certain that your friends and extended family members will have no problem being a part of this virtual birthday party event. Take your time to plan out a spectacular event that allows your kid to feel happy, special and excited about their birthday this year amidst the chaos that surrounds our world due to the pandemic.
