Mary Poppins Returns Plus a DIY Mary Poppins Toddler Costume!

Happy Tuesday friends!

This week a new trailer dropped for Mary Poppins Returns staring Emily Blunt as the iconic nanny.  It’s important to note that this isn’t a remake but rather a sequel in which Mary comes back to visit o new generation of the Banks family.  One thing I love is that Dick Van Dyke is in the movie as Mr. Dawes Jr!

Here’s the trailer!

From what I can tell from the trailer and posters is that Mary’s look has been tweaked just a bit.  She sports a red hat instead of black but she still has a lovely blue overcoat.  There are touches of more red on her gloves and bow tie and she still sports those smart heeled shoes!

I was inspired to create a DIY Mary Poppins toddler costume integrating some classic Mary Poppins touches with some basic pieces that can be found at more brick and mortar stores.  This is a great starter outfit!  You could add a red bow or scarf or even layer a collared shirt underneath the dress.  A trip to the thrift store may yield a cute vintage purse or bag to carry with the umbrella!  This DIY Mary Poppins toddler costume would be great for Disneyland, Disney World or attending the movie once it releases on December 19th!
