Places to Hide from the Rain at Disney’s California Adventure
Rain at the happiest place on earth?? It does occasionally happen! While a bit of water shouldn’t ruin your trip, Disney’s California Adventure does have some places to escape the rain. Always check the weather before you head to DCA but in the meantime, I’ve put together a list of places to hide from the rain at DCA. So, throw on your rain poncho, and let’s discuss the places that offer shelter from the weather!
1. BOUDIN BREAD FACTORY
Walk through to see the tour or simply relax in the seating area watching the bakers do their magic. It’s always warm in this area and it smells amazing! The great thing is that there are tables in the corridor next to the bread machines so grab some food and watch the bread being made!
2. Ghirardelli Chocolate and Soda Shop
Grab a chocolate sample and watch the walls come alive in the Ghirardelli Factory! It’s standing-room-only but it’s a great place to taste test and purchase fun chocolate treats. Ghirardelli also has some covered seating right in the front of the shop, although you might have to hover to snag a seat.
3. Disney Jr Live!
If you have littles take them to the Disney Jr show. The waiting area is covered and the show is indoors. It’s a great way to escape the rain and have toddlers participate in a fun dance party!
4. Animation Academy
Located in Hollywood Land, the Animation Academy is a place where you can learn to sketch Disney characters by being taught by talented cast members! There is also plenty of space to wander around and make sure to check out Beasts library!
DISCOUNT DISNEY TICKETS
My favorite Disney-approved re-seller, Get Away Today, offers the best Disney discount tickets around. In addition to great discount prices, their customer service is top-notch. They have an entire department dedicated to making sure every order has a wonderful experience and they are on-call to help you during your vacation if you need them.
Buying tickets from Get Away Today is easy and convenient since all their tickets are sent electronically. You can take their vouchers and head straight to the gate without waiting in ticket booth lines. They also offer layaway plans so you can pay off your vacation over time. Don’t forget to mention THIS BLISS LIFE for your discount!
5. DCA Shops
Like Disneyland, all of the Disney California Adventure shops are connected so it’s easy to roam through and shop or watch the candymakers do their thing. Hunt for the coin press machines or for some of the hidden mickeys all over!
6. Frozen Live!
Frozen Live at the Hyperion is a great way to hide from the rain at DCA! It’s a one-hour show and is perfect for all ages! Make sure to grab the fast pass first thing in the morning.
Items to Pack for Disneyland California Adventure in the Rain!
Waterproof jacket or poncho: A good quality waterproof jacket or poncho is essential to keep you dry in the rain. Look for something with a hood to keep your head dry as well.
Waterproof footwear: Make sure to wear waterproof shoes or boots to keep your feet dry. Avoid wearing sandals or shoes with holes that will let the water in.
Umbrella: An umbrella is another essential item to bring with you to protect you from the rain. Look for a compact one that can easily fit in your bag.
Extra clothes: Bring an extra set of clothes in case you get soaked from the rain. This is especially important if you plan to go on water rides.
Plastic bags: Bring plastic bags to store wet clothes and items to keep them separate from dry items in your bag.
Waterproof phone case: To protect your phone from water damage, consider bringing a waterproof phone case or a waterproof pouch to keep your phone safe and dry.
Hand sanitizer: Rain can make surfaces slippery and increase the risk of germs. Bring hand sanitizer to keep your hands clean and avoid getting sick.
Snacks and drinks: Bring some snacks and drinks to keep you fueled and hydrated throughout the day. Pack them in a waterproof container to keep them dry.
Camera cover: If you plan on taking photos in the rain, bring a camera cover or a plastic bag to protect your camera from water damage.
