WHAT IS THE STAR WARS HIGH REPUBLIC?
Star Wars: The High Republic is a new Star Wars tale spanning books, comics, and beyond. The series is divided into three phases; the first, Light of the Jedi, will run through 2021 and into 2022, with the second phase, Quest of the Jedi, and the third phase, Trials of the Jedi, coming at a future date.
The Star Wars High Republic introduces new characters including the antagonistic “space Vikings” known as the Nihil and their conflicts with the Jedi.
Showdown at the fair review
In Showdown at the Fair readers visit the Republic Fair on the planet of Valo. The fair attracts visitors from all over the Outer Rim galaxy and is an opportunity for others to see what the Republic has to offer. When the evil pirates called Nihil attack the fair, it’s up to Jedi Padawan Burryaga and Bell Zettifer to try to keep the fair visitors safe!
Showdown at the Fair is the second children’s book installment of the Star Wars The High Republic Saga. Readers first encountered the Wookiee Burryaga in The Great Jedi Rescue and now he’s back battling the Nihil and remembering his Jedi training in the chaos of the attack. Like the previous book, this book relies on crisp illustrations that do a good job of showing off the action between the Jedi and their pursuers.
While this book doesn’t detail why the Nihil are attacking (other than they are evil) Showdown at the Fair is filled with tons of action. Kids who are both Star Wars fans and new to the genre will enjoy these new Star Wars characters and adventures.
