How many of us remember just how iconic some of our favorite Disney movies were? I remember watching the magic of the Sandlot for the first time and simply falling in LOVE with that movie. With the impending release of Disney+ I sat down to look through the recent tweet that laid out all of the movies and shows that will be available to stream! With a toddler and a tween, movie nights have to offer up entertainment that keeps them both happy. Here are what I think are the best tween movies on Disney+!
Escape to Witch Mountain (1975)
The classic version of this movie still holds that special magic. Two siblings with telekinetic abilities run from some shady pursuers. It’s dated sure, but really entertaining especially for tweens!
The Parent Trap (1961, 1998)
The original with Hayley Mills remains my personal favorite (love the scenes of vintage Monterey!) but your tween will like both versions of this classic movie! Twins switch places in order to live with their divorced parents. They plot to get their parents back together and proceed to drive everyone crazy in the meantime.
Christian Bale, singing and ridiculously good dancing is what’s in store for the tween who loves musicals.
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989)
Find out what happens when some precocious kids shrink themselves and get lost in a backyard jungle.
Rookie of the Year (1993)
When a kid suddenly gains the force to pitch at incredible speeds, find out what happens when he goes to the major league. This is a fun feel good movie for tween sports fans!
White Fang (1991)
White Fang has drama, adventure and beautiful dogs. Follow along a young man’s coming of age story set in the wilds of Alaska. This movie has suspense and gorgeous scenery. What else do you need?
Hocus Pocus (1993)
Now you can watch this cult classic Halloween movie all year round! Bonus is that Disney+ is developing a sequel for the film with the three original witches in talks to reprise their roles!
The Princess Diaries (2001)
Watch what happens when a plain girl is thrust into the role of a real life princess. Anne Hathaway’s iconic role is so fun and perfect for a silly movie night.
Snow Dogs (2002)
Another silly adventure movie for those tween dog lovers!
Tuck Everlasting (2002)
This is a wonderful adaptation of one of my favorite novels. Two young people fall in love but the catch is that one of them is immortal. Beautiful cinematography is what sets this adaptation apart from the rest!
The Sandlot (1993)
The new kid on the block finds friendship, baseball games and adventure in this fun heartwarming movie.
