What to Expect: Disney Aulani Reopening!

Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa in Ko Olina, Hawai‘i is working toward a phased reopening to begin on November 1, 2020! After 7 long months, Disney Aulani is prepping to reopen the hotel with limited capacity. Here is what to expect with a Disney Aulani reopening!

Disney Aulani Reopening

Beginning on October 15 2020, Hawaii’s pre-arrival testing program will allow tourists to skip the mandatory 14-day quarantine with a negative Covid test.

Prior to your arrival, if you are an adult (age 18 years or older) you will need to create an online user account and register with the State of Hawai‘i Safe Travels Hawai‘i program. Once you create your Safe Travels Hawai‘i account, you will next need to enter your traveler information and trip details on the program’s application form.

All travelers ages five and over will be required to take a Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) from a certified Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) lab in order to bypass the State of Hawai‘i’s 14-day mandatory quarantine. The State of Hawaiʻi will accept test results ONLY from TRUSTED TESTING AND TRAVEL PARTNERS.

Once you receive your negative pre-travel test result, you will need to upload the result to your Safe Travels Hawai‘i account. This process is critical as it will be the only means for airport officials to verify your Safe Travel Hawai‘i information upon your arrival in Hawai‘i. Upon your completion of the form, a QR code will be emailed to you for each leg of your trip. Upon deplaning in Hawai‘i,  you will be asked to present your QR code to airport personnel either on paper or on your mobile phone, along with a legally valid photo ID.

For Aulani specifically, you will need a confirmed room reservation for your stay.
You will also need face masks for each Guest age 2 and up, to be worn in all public areas—including while entering and exiting dining locations—and can be removed when actively eating or drinking while maintaining appropriate physical distancing or while swimming in a Resort pool or lagoon.

Disney Aulani advises that face coverings (whether disposable or reusable) must:

  • Be made with at least two layers of breathable material
  • Fully cover the nose and mouth and secure under the chin
  • Fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face
  • Be secured with ties or ear loops and allow the Guest to remain hands-free

At this time, based on guidance from health authorities, neck gaiters, open-chin triangle bandanas and face coverings containing valves, mesh material or holes of any kind are not acceptable face coverings for use at Disney Aulani.

Disney Aulani is also recommending that guests use the online check-in system and have cashless or contactless forms of payment.

Aulani announced that their common areas will receive increased cleaning.

Prior to your arrival, your room will undergo thorough cleaning—with attention to high-touch areas, like TV remotes and door handles. During your stay, your room will receive a light cleaning service every other day, which will include:

  • Removal of trash and used towels
  • Replenishment of towels and amenities
  • Wiping and cleaning of the vanity and counter surfaces
