The Ko Olina Lagoons are a series of man-made lagoons located on the western coast of the Hawaiian island of Oahu. The lagoons are part of the Ko Olina Resort, a popular vacation destination known for its luxurious accommodations, beautiful beaches, and world-class amenities. What Are the Ko Olina Lagoons
Ko Olina Lagoons is a residential and hotel community with over 600 acres on the beautiful island of Oahu. Located just north of Kapolei, Ko Olina has four beautiful lagoons that are open to the public.
1. What is the Best Way to Get to the Ko Olina Lagoons?
Car: If you have a rental car or your own vehicle, the easiest way to get to the Ko Olina Lagoons is by driving. The lagoons are located about 30 minutes west of Honolulu, and there is ample parking available at the resort.
Shuttle: There are several shuttle services available that provide transportation to and from Ko Olina. Many of these services are offered by the hotels and resorts in the area, and they typically require advance booking.
Public transportation: The public bus system on Oahu, known as TheBus, also offers service to Ko Olina. Route C, also known as CountryExpress, provides service to the resort from Honolulu and other parts of the island.
Taxi or rideshare: Taxis and rideshare services like Uber and Lyft are also available on Oahu and can be used to get to Ko Olina.
The Four Ko Olina Lagoons
Ko Olina Lagoon 1 (Kahola Lagoon): This lagoon is the largest of the four and is located closest to the resort’s main entrance. It features a wide sandy beach, crystal-clear water, and a picturesque view of the nearby mountains.
This lagoon is the closest to Aulani Resort so the beach chairs and umbrellas are only available for guests to use, and there is also a nearby grassy area for picnicking and playing.
Ko Olina Lagoon 2 (Honu Lagoon): This lagoon is slightly smaller than Lagoon 1 but is still quite spacious. It is home to several large rocks that jut out of the water, creating a unique and interesting landscape. There is also a small waterfall and a shallow area for children to play in.
The beach here is pretty much like all of the other Ko Olina Lagoons but it is the only lagoon to have permanent palapas (umbrellas) on the beach for shade. The parking situation at Lagoon 2 can be challenging since there are only 18 spaces.
Ko Olina Lagoon 3 (Nai’a Lagoon): This lagoon is known for its calm waters and excellent snorkeling opportunities. There is a large coral reef just offshore, where visitors can see a variety of colorful fish, sea turtles, and other marine life.

Lagoon #3 at the Ko Olina Resort is located behind the Marriott’s Ko Olina Beach Club and offers the same protected waters as all four of the Ko Olina lagoons.
Ko Olina Lagoon 4 (Ulua Lagoon): This lagoon is the smallest of the four and is located furthest from the resort’s entrance. It is a popular spot for paddleboarding and kayaking, and there are often fewer people here than at the other lagoons.
All of the lagoons at Ko Olina are connected by a paved walking path, which makes it easy for visitors to explore and enjoy them all. There are also several restaurants, cafes, and shops located within the resort, as well as a variety of water sports and other activities to choose from.
