Spina Farms Pumpkin Patch

Spina Farms is a historic agricultural landmark located in Santa Clara Valley, California. Founded by Italian immigrant Vincenzo Spina in the early 20th century, the farm has a rich history that dates back to 1937. Vincenzo Spina initially started the farm as a means to provide fresh produce to his family and the local community. Over the years, the farm expanded its operations and offerings like adding a fruit stand and is becoming known for its high-quality fruits and vegetables.

In September and October, families flock to wander through Spina’s sprawling pumpkin patch. Rows of vines overflow with pumpkins in all shapes, sizes and colors.

Entrance is free but to participate in the attractions like the hay ride and pumpkin blasters, visitors need to purchase attractions tickets. They start at $8 per activity which can add up for the average family of 4! Visitors can buy tickets for all the attractions they choose and Spina Farms also sells a pass that saves you $3 if you want to do it all.

Spina Farms Activities

Spina Farms offers varieties of pumpkins including Cinderella and sugar pumpkins. You can hand-pick the perfect pumpkin for carving, cooking, or simply decorative fall displays. The friendly staff provides wagons and wheelbarrows to haul your choices back from the patch. Once you have your selections head over to the cashier to pay.

We suggest getting treats and participating in the activities before getting your pumpkins, so you don’t have to lug them around the farm.

Spina Farms in San Jose has several different activities that are appropriate for all ages. Take a spin around the farm on the hay ride or try out the popular pumpkin blasters. The corn maze is about $8 per person and is large – it’s easy to get lost!

There are so many things you can take pictures in front of for fun Instagram pics! They have pumpkin pyramids, corn stalks, scarecrows, and even sunflowers.

Inside the farm stand shop, you’ll find baked goods like fresh pies, cookies and breads made from produce grown right on the farm. Visitors can stock up on fresh fruits, veggies and baked for their kitchen.

No trip to Spina Farms is complete without enjoying a picnic on the grounds. Spina Farms sells delicious snacks like caramel corn, caramel apples, shave ice, cotton candy, and roasted corn with butter. Taking a break is possible on the covered bench area after pumpkin picking or roaming the grounds.

Spina Farms has a few food stations – the largest one has a kid-friendly menu (lunchables, caprisun drinks, cookies, nachos, etc.)

When Is the Best Time to Go to Spina Farms?

Spina Farms does get crowded, especially on weekends. We suggest arriving early to beat the most congested times or visiting on a weekday that isn’t Friday. During the week crowds are much more manageable but note that Spina Farms does school tours, so you could be on the farm with lots of students during the week.

Wear weather-appropriate clothes and shoes suited to walking on dirt paths through the farm.
