When visiting Disneyland, we always look for the biggest room possible for a reasonable price. On a recent trip, we ended up booking the Homewood Suites Convention Center after realizing that we could pay a little more than a standard room at a hotel that was closer to Disneyland Resort. Located next door to the Toy Story parking lot, this is a fairly new hotel on the Katella hotel row. Here is a full review and tips for Homewood Suites Convention Center.
Homewood Suites Convention Center Room
I really appreciated the level of cleanliness in the room and the Homewood Suites Convention Center hotel. We reserved a King suite with a pull-out sofa bed. Rooms have a fridge, microwave, pots, pans, bowls, plates, and utensils in the room. We found our room to be clean and comfortable.
The one thing we wished we would have done was brought our own pillows. They were overly soft and very uncomfortable. We left a note for our housekeeper to leave additional towels which were left in the bathroom. The person also tucked in my daughter’s stuffed animals which were very cute.
One of the best things about this hotel (and Homewood Suites in general) is its manager’s reception. In the early evening, the Homewood Suites Convention Center hotel offers complimentary drinks and food. While we were there they offered grilled chicken salad and a variety of soups. I also attended the reception where pasta, salad, and pizza have been served.
In the morning, items like eggs, toast, french toast, yogurt, and pastries along with juice and coffee are available.
Although it was too cold for us to swim, the pool and hot tub area were large with lots of seating for guests. There is also an enclosed basketball court! We also spotted a BBQ and fire pit outside for guests who weren’t to grill their own food.
The Homewood Suites Convention Center also offers movies you could borrow for your room, an arcade, a putting green, and a laundry area. They also offer a service where they can grocery shop and deliver to your room for a fee.
If you're planning a Disneyland vacation, make sure to use Get Away Today- they offer the best prices and services. Plus, you can save an extra $10 off packages with promo code BLISS.
Proximity to Disneyland
The reception team gave us a tip to walk over to the Toy Story parking lot (not even a full block) to catch the shuttle to Disneyland. Buses run continuously and drop you off in the front of the park and pick you up in the loading area in front of the security entrance. It’s about a 15-20 minute walk to Disneyland if you don’t catch the shuttle.
Other than the terrible pillows, I would recommend Homewood Suites Convention Center as an excellent place to stay when visiting Disneyland or the Anaheim area.
Tips for Homewood Suites Convention Center:
Head to the breakfast and manager’s reception early as there are usually a ton of people in the space.
Walk over to the Toy Story parking lot for a free shuttle to Disneyland’s main gate.
Don’t see tea or hot cocoa in the front lobby? Ask the reception desk, they usually have packets behind the desk!
Ask to see the movie schedule. On warm nights they will host a movie out by the pool.
