Casia Inn Review: A Gem in Sonoma California
Casia Inn in Sonoma doesn’t announce itself. From the street, it’s easy to drive right past it, and that would be a mistake. For our wedding anniversary, we wanted to take a short trip back to wine country. While we usually stay in Napa, I wanted to stay at a completely different place and I found Casia Inn, which had last-minute availability. We pulled through the gate and everything changed. What we discovered was five acres of meticulously maintained gardens and a thoughtfully renovated property originally built in 1941. The Casia Inn has the kind of attention to detail that’s rare to find. The lavender sachets in the room, the handwritten welcome letter at check-in, the cute free little library on the property — none of it feels like an afterthought.
We reserved one of the largest rooms, and the inn is arranged like attached cottages along a single level. The rooms are modern, well-appointed, and the bathrooms are nice. We walked into a bouquet of fresh flowers and a little note wishing us a happy anniversary, which was a lovely touch. Each room has a large shower, fluffy towels, and toiletry sets. The rooms also had nice robes and slippers for guests’ use.
The one caveat worth mentioning is that the sheets could be softer. A minor complaint in the grand scheme of things, but worth noting.
Breakfast is included at the Casia Inn, and it’s a real highlight of this property. One morning, I headed into the front desk building, and there were fresh bread, croissants, bagels, cheeses, berries, eggs, yogurt, and coffee. The Casia Inn puts out a simple spread, but executed very well in a well-lit dining space.
The lavender lemon cookies that appeared alongside it were an unexpected bonus, and since it was cold when we visited, cookies and tea were an afternoon treat while we were at the property.
The Casia Inn pool area is small but inviting, the gardens are peaceful enough to make you forget you’re a ten-minute drive from downtown Sonoma, and the staff is warm without being overbearing.
A few practical notes: luggage wagons are available near the gated parking entrance, there’s a small market directly across the street, and the road construction nearby was a non-issue during the stay. There are several wineries nearby, and the town of Sonoma is a short 10-minute drive away.
Casia Inn is a great choice for anyone heading to Sonoma Valley for wine country. It’s quiet, charming, well-located, and clearly run by people who care about the experience they’re delivering.
