Anaheim Howard Johnson Hotel’s House of the Retro Future Suite!
There are two things my Disneyland hotel has to have; a pool and it has to be in close proximity to the Disneyland Esplanade. The Anaheim Howard Johnson Hotel fits those requirements and more. Read on for my thoughts on the Anaheim Hojo and the House of the Retro Future Suite!
I was invited as a guest of Getaway Today to tour the House of the Retro Future Suite. All thoughts and opinions my own.
What The Anaheim Hojo Offers
The Anaheim Howard Johnson Hotel (Anaheim Hojo) is located across the street from the Disneyland Resort! I like that it’s near places to eat (Mimi’s Cafe and Panera) and close enough to pop in and out of Disneyland throughout the day! The team at the Anaheim Hojo has worked to offer newly renovated, spacious guest rooms – perfect for families who have multiple children.
The Anaheim Howard Johnson hotel is one of the rare hotels in the vicinity of Disneyland that also offers two outdoor pools and a pirate-themed water playground called, “Castaway Cove.”
One thing to note is that the Anaheim Howard Johnson Hotel is part of the Wyndham Resort so if you are a member, you can use points to book!
The House of the Retro Future Suite
I was able to check out the House of the Retro Future Suite as a guest of the Getaway Today team. The Suite is a brand new concept dreamed up by the Anaheim Howard Johnson team as a nod to Disneyland’s original House of the Future walkthrough display that was sponsored by M.I.T. and Monsanto.
This suite is so kitschy and fun. It’s bright, located in the renovated Building #2, and overlooks the recently renovated Garden Pool outside of the building. What I liked about the suite is that it’s a vibe and an experience, rather than just a room to rest your feet after a long day at Disneyland Resort. It’s the perfect option for a large family or even a group of friends who are celebrating something special!
My favorite Disney-approved re-seller, Get Away Today, offers the best Disneyland discount tickets around. In addition to great discount prices, their customer service is top-notch. They have an entire department dedicated to making sure every order has a wonderful experience and they are on-call to help you during your vacation if you need them.
Buying tickets from Get Away Today is easy and convenient since all their tickets are sent electronically. You can take their vouchers and head straight to the gate without needing to wait in any ticket booth lines. They also offer layaway plans so you can pay off your vacation over time.
What Does the House of the Retro Future Offer?
Kitchenette
As soon as you step in there is a small kitchenette plus a dining table which is major for those who need one in their suite. The kitchenette is stocked with the cutest glasses and a sideboard that has extra storage if you need it for an event.
Different Seating Options
There are several seating options in the room such as two couches and several Eames-esq chairs throughout the suite. It’s a perfect setup for those who like additional seating or even those that want to do an event such as a girl’s night in or birthday celebration in the suite.
Huge Bathroom
The House of the Retro Future suite features a bathroom with two showers and a separate water closet. It is perfect to get ready before a long day at Disney with a large lighted mirror over the desks. There’s a special piece of art in the water closet that’s a nod to the original House of the Future that was featured at Disneyland in the sixties.
DETAILS and Bonus Perks
The suite offers a vinyl record player for use and even has a curated selection of records. Guests who stay in the room receive a print of the Shag art, “Suite of the Future,” to take home as a souvenir.
Guest reservations for The House of the Retro Future suite opened on August 12, 2020, and will be available for two-night stays on Tuesday and Wednesday nights or Friday and Saturday nights. The suite is priced at $1,957, which is a nod to the year the original house opened, and this price includes room, and tax.
