Finding a good restaurant near Disneyland can be a challenge if you are going during a very busy time. Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen is one option and it is a privately owned restaurant located in Downtown Disney. The Jazz Kitchen has authentic New Orleans/Creole-style cuisine with live music playing 7 nights a week. We were invited recently to taste their 5-course meal and their brand new secret dessert. Here are some thoughts on our Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen event!
Our group was seated in the Flambeaux room and started off with the Gumbo Ya Ya. The dish has chicken, andouille sausage, dark roux, and Creole seasoning with rice. It is very delicious and my second favorite portion of the meal. The team paired this with their signature hurricane which is a mixture of rum, citrus juices and grenadine!
I had the pasta jambalaya while my sister had the chicken with mashed potatoes. Both were good but I preferred the chicken, it was seasoned better!
Jazz Kitchen offers kids meals and so my daughter decided on the pasta with meatballs. It was a huge bowl of pasta and she ate half- she said it was good and filling!
During our meal we were serenaded with a piano player but it was very loud in the room so just a be aware if you are going to hear music, know that during a busy dinner service it may be hard to hear.
The staff at Jazz Kitchen is experienced and FAST. They are used to getting diners in and out but they don’t rush you to eat. It’s more of just getting whatever you need efficiently so you can go back and enjoy the Parks if you don’t want a leisurely dinner. We ended our Jazz Kitchen event with a secret dessert and the staff was happy to let us know that we were the first group to try it out!

What’s the Secret Dessert?
The secret dessert is…….a bananas foster beignet!! Guys, it is so delicious. We almost didn’t have room for dessert but when it was placed on our table, we rallied. Tender flambé bananas with a thick sauce, ice cream, beignets and crunchy nuts- it is PERFECT.
Should I make reservations?
Yes! Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen gets very busy so you want to call ahead to make your reservations. Walk in times are long during lunch and dinner but if you don’t mind waiting, it’s worth it.
Does the Jazz Kitchen give free validated parking?
Yes, discounts are offered but only if you spend $20 or more. If you do the Jazz Kitchen will validate parking in the Downtown Disneyland parking lot for 5 hours. Don’t forget to bring your parking ticket!
